(Let me preface this post,by saying my gall bladder has talked to me on and off for over 30 years. It has always gotten better, and I thought I had learned what I could and could not eat.Alas,I was wrong. That being said, here we go.)
Yep-had a road trip planned for this weekend. To spend some time in the Loverly Isle of Leheigh, with my friend Tink.We were going to see if there were any shells left for me,after she and Tootie were finally finished with the shell piles.
The overnight bag was packed(with the Crab packed safely in there too) and in the Tacoma, sheling gear was in there, too. Two bottles of Santa Christina were also tucked safely away. The plan was for me to cut outta work early, and head south.
But,dumb-ass that I am decided to have bacon and eggs for breakfast, from the hospital cafeteria. They were sure good, but within 20 minutes,my gallbladder was not just talking to me,it was yelling.Along with pain radiating over to the right side.
After consulting with a surgeon friend,in the physician's lounge,it was decided, that things weren't looking too good for me.I would need to get things to calm down.Meaning, clear fluids, rest and NO drinking of any type of adult beverage(WTF?).And for me to make an appointment with a GI doctor on Monday. If I wasn't any better by then,I was to proceed directly to the ER.Do not pass go.Do not collect $200.00.
Of course, stupid me had to ask,"Can I still go south,to go shelling?" After a big sigh, head shaking, and much eye-rolling,the answer was,"Sure, but if you get sicker down there, what are you gonna do?"
So,home I went,after stopping at Publix for chicken broth,Squirt(I do love that when I don't feel good),oyster crackers,and Pepcid.
I plopped myself in the bed, watched the news of Ike,and gave thanks it went there instead of here(I do believe the Great Wall of Lutz had something to do with that).
Also, gave thanks that USF pulled one out of their asses at the last moment, over Kansas. Go Bulls!!! We should move up in the standings this week!
So,this is where we are now.I guess this saga will be continued - after a doctor's visit.
Hopefully, there will be a small tropical disturbance,in the near future-not storm, not hurricane, but disturbance-that will bring the shells rolling in again. If not, there's always a cold front or two!

I agree, it sucks - I did all that cleaning of the guest quarters for NO APPARENT REASON! Well, I guess that's a virtue in and of itself, and next to gawdliness and all that happy hoo hah. Feel better soon!
Tink *~*~*
Let's look on the bright side of this. You got your guest quarters cleaned. So,now you don't have to worry about it for awhile. And I got a full tank of gas before the price sky-rocketed.I'm gonna go pout now.
Aw, I'm so sorry. I was really looking forward to reading about the T and C Escapades. Do get well. And no more bacon and eggs!!!
Sorry you missed out on this adventure. But, there will be another one. Mind you....you may have to get up at 1 AM to drive 2 1/2 hrs to get here (that is the ETA, right?) but that's a small price to pay for all the fun!
Don't worry about missing out on shells. I got ya covered!
Feel better soon!
Don't feel bad....I know I have gallbladder disease and am having my gallbladder out in 2 weeks but last week I ate a Baconater from Wendys! DUH! Greasy burger, 6 pieces of bacon, and cheese. Word to the wise.......don't eat one of those either.
