"Nope,I'm gonna stay here and watch NASCAR,after I take a nap."
So,after I got over having my feelings hurt,I realized it is his day and he can do whatever he damn well feels like.When you are 90years old,a father,a grandfather,and a great grandfather, you can do whatever you damn well feel like doing on Father's Day.If he wants to take a nap and watch NASCAR without me bothering him,so be it.
So,we grilled steaks.Made margaritas,swam in the pool.Just hung out.
Or get in touch with his inner self.....
or.whatever......
And JonJ got out the guitar!!!

Even though,it was close to 100* it was still a good day.......

Awe, good for Dad doing what he wants to or not doing what he doesn't want to do....whatever. You're right, he should be able to. I'm sure if I ever make it to 90, that's what I intend to do. :-) Now that I think about it....I have a problem finding my way around now.
The day could have been a lot worse. The Neil Young songbook could have been Simon and Garfunkel.

I am glad to hear that Dad just decided he would watch Nascar and the heck with Father's Day. It's good that you put it into perspective. It's bad that I don't have a pool, but the tree house will be done by the weekend and we could sit in the trees and Jon could play the guitar. Wine or Margaritas are especially good up there I would imagine, however the descent would be a bugger if you had one two many canapes. You guys are the greatest.
