First off ,people,we want you to read this........
what the Hell is going on?
and you must remember this didn't happen just once, but four times!
So,these four precious little monsters are now going to be treated as adults. As well they should be,if they committed such a violent and dehumanizing crime.
A lot of press, here in Tampa, has been given to:
"Where was the coach?"
"Didn't the teachers see what was going on?"
"Why didn't the school board do something?"
"The school board, the school, the teacher all need to be sued."
Excuse me? Are we missing something here?
But where the Hell were their parents?
My grandmother always said,"Kids don't suck behavior outta their thumb. They gotta learn it somewhere."
Sooooo......
A nice man,who happens to be a teacher to snot nosed middle schoolers(can there be any worse age?)and a coach, may lose the thing he loves to do most(which is teach our snot-nosed middle schoolers),because four sets of parents didn't do their job?
Being a parent is the hardest job in the world. We know-having raised two,who have somehow managed to make it to adulthood relatively unscathed(and one is even a teacher). But we didn't expect their teachers to raise them.Trust us,they got their collective behinds swatted if they stepped out of line. They have made it to adulthood, and they have since said,"You were a bitch, but you were cool."
Our question is:
-Since when did teachers and schools become responsible for teaching children right from wrong?Isn't that a parent'sresponsibility?
-Isn't the teacher supposed to educate the child? The 3 R's,if you will. How do they teach the child if they are also having to raise them?
-If I want my child to know right from wrong, shouldn't I be the one to teach him or her?Do I want to turn that responsibility over to a stranger? And if I should want that, why am I having children, anyways?Children aren't tokens;to be bragged over. They are precious human beings. To be nurtured and shown the way to adulthood. By their parents-not strangers. If you don't want to do that-don't have them!
Everyone is asking questions, here in Tampa, but is anyone asking those four sets of parents,"Aren't you sorry you plopped their asses in front of the TV when they were growing up?Aren't you sorry you let the TV and videos raise them, instead of yourselves?Exactly what did you teach them regarding right and wrong?"
What kind of society have we become that fourteen and fifteen year olds could even possibly conceive of perpetrating this kind of horrific act on another human being?
Wasn't it Crosby,Stills, and Nash that said,"Parents, teach your children well." ?
What have we taught the generation that will take care of us in our old age?
Remember this, "Kids don't suck their behavior outta their thumb. They gotta learn it somewhere."

As a retired teacher, I am soooo with you on this! I always said that parents had the kids and teachers raised them.
It is appalling! We have had problems with harassment at the middle school here, including in the locker room, where there is no supervision. I think they feel an adult would be at risk of being accused of something if they were in the locker room. So, maybe they need multiple adults present to protect each other while supervising the students. But you're right. Their actions come from someplace else. It's learned somewhere... otherwise kids that age would not think of doing something so terrible. The parents are definitely responsible for teaching them right from wrong, and they have failed to do so. In the pictures, the boys look really scary!! I don't remember ever feeling truly scared of my peers in middle school. But I do fear for my child moving up in a few years. Thankfully she's just moving into 4th....but you'd be AMAZED at that things that come up even at the grade school level!!! NOT the era I/we grew up in!!
You need a license to fish, but any old idiot is allowed to procreate. The coach should not in any way be penalized. Maybe they should be talking about revoking the parents' rights as parents, since they clearly did not instill enough fear of God into their children to prevent them from perpetrating a heinous crime against another child.

OMG!!!!!!!!A child is only as good as a parents parenting skills. My mom taught school for 28 years, and it seemed as though every problem that occured was everyone but the parents fault. I think that every one of those boys ought to get a broomstick shoved up their ass...sorry but thats how I feel. They have demoralized and scarred that child forever and he WILL NEVER be the same!!!!!!! Send them to prison with the big boys and tatoo targets on their little asses so they can get it everyday!
It's just awful and it makes me sick every time it comes on the news.
On a lighter note, it's nice to find a fellow Tampa area blogger.
OH Crap, Chris/Jon... I despise hearing things like this. Being the teacher these days is the hardest job on earth. All a child has to do is to cry fowl--and that teacher is automatically deemed guilty. I don't know the incident you are talking about--but, as a former teacher, I feel sorry for teachers today.
I don't know what is happening in our country --but it is appalling what is happening to teachers (and others who love and want to work with and educate and help kids)...
You are right: Where are the PARENTS??? That is the big problem. Parents want everyone else to raise them....
Oh--just makes me so mad. I will pray for that teacher/coach.
Hugs,
Betsy
That's so sad. Kid have always been mean and cruel to other kids but I think that with the escalating violence and desensitizing of bad behavior in movies, the level of their cruelty has escalated. It's just sad. :-(
Children being mean and picking on other kids is something that has always ruffled my feathers! I think the children along with their parents should be given a harsh punishment and sent to a training camp for fools.....or something! It seems to me that it is a real sign of low intelligence and like you said, what a shame they are allowed to breed. :-(
And for this our teachers and school district administrators deserve low pay and no support from the community.
It is beyond me why anyone would want to be a teacher these days. Thankless job.
