“It’s The Holiday Season……

and whoop-dee-doo…..”

and Dad is in the hospital,

again.

Let’s review,shall we?

5 or 6 years ago(I forget how long ago,there have been so many),on Christmas Eve he fell and fractured his patella.Surgery ensued.

3 years ago he fell and fractured his sacrum and was in rehab over Thanksgiving,returning home just before Christmas.

Last year,his chronic atrial fibrillation caused him to be readmitted to the hospital(heart rate of 180!Damn right they’re admitting you!),returning home on Christmas Eve.Yep,the old pacemaker had been dead as a door nail for over a year,and he knew about it.”So,the battery is dead.Why should I care?” Dad!!!!

….Battery was replaced in January….

This year,we are lucky enough to get

……..get ready for this one…..

a fractured hip!!!!

I get the call early AM,yesterday.

”Your father has fallen.”

I swear to God I said this,

”Can he get up?”

Fast forward…

He’s admitted through the ER with a fractured hip.

Let me tell you,now…….

It pays to know people!

Call the ortho trauma doc on call and tell him it’s my Dad!

I love knowing people!

Yessiree!

Thankfully,the fracture doesn’t need surgery,but he does need rehab……

and that conversation is worthy of it’s own post…….
